Harry Maguire and his troubles at Manchester United
Harry Maguire has been in great difficulty playing for the Red Devils. Many believe that he is going through a bad phase and his game is not good at the moment, which may cost him his position at Manchester United.
Manchester United's standards are extremely high and mistakes made on the field are not forgotten. Harry Maguire is not only receiving criticism from the experts and his fellow players but is also receiving heavy criticism from the Manchester United fans.
The entire controversy started after the club made their exit from the champions league on Tuesday night after losing at Old Trafford 1-0. Since then, there have been rumours that there is tension between the players in the dressing room. United Captain, Harry Maguire denied the rumours and said, "There are no problems in the dressing room. When you play for this club, there are always reports and lots of media attention. It’s got nothing to do with the result."
The crowd cheered when Harry Maguire was replaced by Ralf Rangnick in the second half. It must be so difficult for Maguire to see the same audience cheering him off, that once adored him. Jamie Carragher sympathised with the player in an interview. He said that he has been through a similar phase but Maguire needs to recover from it as soon as possible to continue being a red.
Jamie Carragher said, "And I always remember that period of my career. This is something that Harry Maguire is going through right now and he has to get out of it very quickly otherwise he won’t be at the club because the standards at Manchester United are so high. Of course, he wants to get out of it but his head will be all over the place, he is getting criticism left, right and centre. He’ll be criticised again – I think the crowd actually cheered when he went off, which isn’t a nice thing for anyone."
Ralf Rangnick had Maguire's back after he was booed by the audience at Old Trafford. He told the media that he didn't understand why that happened and why people have developed this hatred for the player. He holds Maguire in high regard. Similar were the views of the United interim boss who told the media that he is one of their most valuable players and he has no idea why the audience would react this way.
"I didn't understand what happened at Wembley, it won't happen in our stadium with the Red Army. He's been playing well for Manchester United and England in the last couple of years. He's been a very valuable player for the team and the club, the captain," the interim United boss said.
