Hansi Flick praises Germany's midfield enforcer Emre Can after defeat to Belgium
Germany coach Hansi Flick spoke highly of Emre Can for the significant impact he made after coming off the bench in the friendly defeat to Belgium.
Flick commended Can for his display in Germany's 3-2 defeat on Tuesday, after the 29-year-old midfielder replaced Florian Wirtz in the 32nd minute.
Can immediately contributed to the team by providing defensive solidity, which was lacking during the first 30 minutes of the match when Belgium had the upper hand.
"You have to say that Emre showed his defensive quality after coming on," Flick told reporters after the game.
"He was, if you like, the aggressive leader we needed. He won a lot of tackles and shook up the team."
Can has been a regular starter for Borussia Dortmund in the latter half of the season and was selected for the Germany national team this month as a result of his impressive performances.
