Fulham Qualifies for Premier league
Fulham has confirmed a spot in the Premier League with a 3-0 win over Preston. Fulham bowed out of the Premier League in 2021 under Scott Parker, but Marco Silva has sent them back to the top flight in his first attempt.
Fulham FC will return to the Premier League next season and their promotion has been announced. The team wasn't in their best form on Friday, as they couldn't beat Derby. However, they have been the highest scorers so far in the second tier this season. Aleksandar Mitrovic has overcome the individual Championship goalscoring record, by crossing the 31-goal high mark set by Brentford's Ivan Toney. He scored two goals on Tuesday while Carvalho secured the other goal on the night at Craven Cottage.
Fulham's FC Players in Terrific Form
Marco Silva's side has scored six goals twice in league games this season and won 7-0 away against both Blackburn Rovers and Reading. The team is credited for having a strong attacking side. Summer entry Harry Wilson is in good form and Carvalho is having a breakout season after joining the club last month.
In addition, the team is relishing impressive performances from Wilson's Welsh international teammate Neco Williams, who is on loan from Liverpool and other members of last season's squad that decided to stay. Their entry into the Premier League also means Silva will be overseeing a fourth different club in the league. His first tenure as a manager in England culminated in relegation with Hull City in 2017, after which he also managed Watford and Everton before moving to west London.
Fulham's recent Premier League campaign had a slow start with four straight defeats which almost sabotaged the rest of their season. They failed to cross the 17th rank in the table and were eventually relegated with just 28 points. However, the tables have turned now that they have secured promotion with time to spare. It was their third promotion to the Premier League in five seasons with a 3-0 win over Preston North End on Tuesday.
Fulham FC finished their scoring streak within the first half of the match against Preston at Craven Cottage. The first one arrived in the ninth minute with Aleksandar Mitrovic taking charge followed by Fabio Carvalho doubling the lead. The last goal is credited to Mitrovic who tweaked the scoreboard one last time before halftime. The Cottagers are reputed to have been bouncing between the Premier League and Championship in recent years. They cut in 2018 but relegated soon after before redeeming themselves in 2020 and making another subsequent dip.
Now, Marco Silva's team wants to retain top-flight status this time. The club has enjoyed a 13-season spell in the elite from 2001 to 2014, which was the last time they qualified for consecutive seasons at the top level. This year, they have placed their trust in Mitrovic, who has a 40 goals record in the league. Head coach Silva walked in before the season got started replacing Scott Parker who shifted to join Bournemouth. The Portuguese have played in the Premier League before during his runs with Hull City, Everton and Watford.
