French striker Alexandre Lacazette leaving Arsenal ?
French striker Alexandre Lacazette admitted his agents are considering a potential move away from Arsenal FC but would only consider "beautiful project" options.
According to reports, Lacazette earns £200,000 per week at Emirates Stadium. And Arsenal are reluctant to extend his contract on his current salary.
The club has clarified that they won't discuss a contract extension with Alexandre Lacazette before the end of the season, even if it means losing him for nothing this summer.
The 30-year-old is out of contract at season's end and is available to speak to other clubs based outside of England. After a difficult season, he is unsure if he will stay at his current club as he could only score six goals in all competitions.
Arsenal's greatest problem this season has been scoring goals. And they have been able to score just 45 goals in the Premier League, which is the lowest return of any top-seven club. Arsenal are now sixth in the table after losing their last three games.
Alexandre Lacazette could join Atletico Madrid, AC Milan or Newcastle soon
Atletico Madrid and AC Milan are keeping an eye on his situation. Newcastle and Marseille are also interested in the French international.
Arsenal refuses to offer him a long-term contract on his current salary, despite Arteta's recent return to the starting line-up.
They could negotiate a 12-month extension, but the club's lackluster urgency has not helped Lacazette decide his future.
Newcastle could be an attractive option if the Premier League club can avoid relegation, with its new financial power playing a bigger role.
Lacazette said that his agents are searching all over the place for 'beautiful opportunities'. However, he wants to focus on himself; hence nothing is certain until January. And only after then would the Frenchman weigh his options.
The Frenchman has only been able to contribute 3 goals and 1 assist in 10 matches, as he has mainly stayed off the match courtesy of his manager Mikel Arteta.
Mikel Arteta discusses Alexandre Lacazette's possible exit
Mikel Arteta, the club manager, hasn't ruled out the possibility that the striker's stay could be extended but prefers to hold all contract negotiations for the time being.
Lacazette cost the club a record £52million when he signed from Lyon in 2017 and is aware that he will be getting many offers after ending his terms with Arsenal.
Arteta also believes it is crucial that they communicate with Lacazette, as both Lacazette and the club should make their intentions clear.
The Spaniard spoke out about Lacazette's situation and said that it is something that has become common in football. Arteta said that Lacazette was not the only player in this situation and that they knew it was coming. The manager concluded his remarks by stressing the importance of communication. Arteta stated that he had already spoken to the players individually. His focus is on communicating clearly and keeping the intentions and communication open.
