Sampdoria slipped into the relegation zone of Serie A after losing 4-0 to Salernitana in their third match of the season. Winks was included in Conte's quartet (involving Sergio Reguilon, Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso), but the 2022/23 campaign has changed things.

The 26-year-old was keen on staying back with the Spurs, but his need for more game time guided his decision now that the north London side is packed with seven signings this summer.

Winks has played 200 matches for the Spurs, and his time at the Premier League benefitted the player, so it remains to be seen whether he could improve in Italy.

Bernardo Silva decides to stay despite Barcelona link

Bernardo Silva has confirmed that he will play for Manchester City for the 2022/23 season. The Portuguese, linked with Barcelona all summer, said, "I am staying at Manchester City. I haven't received any offers, and the decision has been made."

Pep Guardiola's inability to find a replacement in the current window prompted him to declare that the player would not be leaving. Some reports suggested that the player was to make the transfer claiming that the La Liga giants have enough financial leeway to make it happen.

The two clubs were rumoured to have agreed on the move, and Barcelona was ready to set up their financials in order.

    Wout Faes replacement for Fofana

Leicester is confident about striking a deal with Reims centre-back Wout Faes. The Foxes are in the middle of Frenchman Wesley Fofana's departure.

He has passed his medical ahead of a £75million move to Chelsea. The money acquired will push the club to seek a replacement, and a deal is in talks for 24-year-old Faes.

Hailing from the Anderlecht academy, Faes rose through the ranks in his youth and has been consistent since his transfer to Reims in 2020. Faes has made 73 Ligue 1 appearances and was called to the Belgian national team earlier this summer.

Now, he is set to move to Leicester as Brendan Rodgers prepares to sign his second recruit for the summer after the arrival of backup goalkeeper Alex Smithies.

Serie A side Torino was also linked with a move for Faes after the Bremer's departure to Juventus, but the ball is in Leicester's court.
