Football Transfer News: Chelsea's bid for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang falls apart
Chelsea is in dire need of a striker despite Armando Broja's return from his loan move with Southampton last season. Now, the Blues are in a last-minute pursuit of a new forward
One player under Chelsea's radar is Barcelona striker and former Arsenal skipper Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Tuchel has worked with the striker at Borussia Dortmund, so it could be a promising solution for the Blues, even if it is short-term.
However, Chelsea has struggled to fix a deal because the Gabonese forward is demanding a two-year contract at Stamford Bridge as opposed to Chelsea's eagerness to hand over a year-long contract.
Another club could hijack the move in search of a new striker, namely, Erik ten Hag's squad at Old Trafford.
Memphis Depay might return to Manchester United
Manchester United have placed a formal request to re-sign Memphis Depay from Barcelona. The Red Devils want to boost their attacking lineup before the end of the ongoing summer transfer.
Ten Hag is currently eyeing Ajax's Antony, who could consider a transfer if a deal worth €100million is proposed. Talks are reportedly in progress as the Red Devils prepare to whisk away Depay from the Blaugrana.
Man Utd has made an opening proposal worth € 10 million to sign Depay, who had a demanding spell at Old Trafford between 2015 and 2017. He scored two goals and an assist from 33 league outings.
However, The Netherlands international has transformed himself after that and is now expected to be a productive signing for Utd. Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Cristiano Ronaldo are the current options for the club, but the Portuguese striker is rumoured to depart soon.
On the other hand, Martial's affinity toward injuries could affect the club's performance, and they cannot rely on Rashford alone. If Utd ends up signing him, Antony and a new right-back, they might have a successful transfer window.
Liverpool is looking for a new midfielder
Liverpool continues to explore their options hoping to find suitable reinforcements for the midfield. They have clarified that they're not looking for temporary solutions.
However, they are open-minded about recruiting a new midfielder this summer if someone worthy enough is on the radar. Aurelien Tchouameni was heavily linked with the Reds before he shifted to Real Madrid.
Now that Liverpool has exhibited a poor start to the new season, spectators have been pointing fingers at the midfield, so the club wants to put a bandaid on the deficit.
Players like Naby Keita, Thiago and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are benched due to injuries meaning their match against Man Utd was opened by veteran James Milner and youngster Harvey Elliott.
Liverpool's scouts have assembled reports on multiple players open to a move, but only a few have been able to mean the criteria placed by the Reds.
