Football Transfer News: Arsenal new long term contract to Bukayo Saka, West Ham to sign Gianluca Scamacca
Arsenal has placed an offer to Bukayo Saka regarding a contract extension, allowing him to double his current salary. They have sent a formal proposal to stretch the contract at least double his current wages of £70,000 per week
Although Saka has not responded, the Gunners are confident about the possibility of acceptance. During the previous edition of the Premier League, Arsenal had failed to reserve a spot in the top four, but the Gunners are relying on their big summer splurge to convince the winger. Reports suggest that a contract extension has been in the cards since February 2022. Furthermore, it is believed that Saka is loyal to Arsenal, due to which negotiations have initiated a formal offer.
In addition, Manchester City was reported to have identified Saka as a long-term target, but it doesn't seem as if Arsenal want to sell him this summer. After they won against Everton in Baltimore on Saturday, interim boss Mikel Arteta said that both parties are on the same page and have the same intention. Saka made 43 appearances last season and scored 12 goals besides grabbing seven assists for Arsenal. Saka also received the Premier League's Academy Graduate award for 2021/22 and Arsenal's Player of the Season award.
West Ham to make a £30.5m offer for Gianluca Scamacca
West Ham has now proposed a £35.5million deal to sign Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca, as personal terms are currently being discussed. The Hammers have made up their mind to pay an initial £30.5million with £ 5 million in add-ons for the 23-year-old. Gianluca Scamacca netted 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances last season for the Italian side, and the deal accommodates a 10 per cent sell-on clause for Sassuolo. West Ham also remains interested in Chelsea striker Armando Broja, and dialogue between the clubs remains open. On the other hand, West Ham failed to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer after Nottingham Forest sacked him on a one-year deal.
West Ham had placed a lucrative offer to sign Lingard, but the 29-year-old went for the newly-promoted side and rejected the Hammers, who have now made three signings this summer. We have witnessed the arrival of defender Nayef Aguerd (joining from Rennes for £30milion), goalkeeper Alphonse Areola (joining for £7.75million from Paris Saint-Germain after he was given away on loan last season), and midfielder Flynn Downes (joining from Swansea City for an undisclosed fee). West Ham manager David Moyes is determined to work on his squad ahead of a season to witness the team enter their first Europa Conference League campaign.
