Football News: Wayne Rooney brings ex-Manchester United Wonder kid Ravel Morrison to DC United

Ravel Morrison has signed a contract that runs through the 2023 MLS season with a club option on 2024.
Ravel Morrison has agreed to a one-year deal with an additional 12-month option with the MLS team.
Rooney, an Old Trafford great and England'sEngland's all-time leading goalkeeper was hired as DC United'sUnited's manager earlier this month.
Rooney, who once played for DC United, quit his position as manager of Derby County last month after two seasons in charge at Pride Park.
Rooney targeted a deal for ex-Manchester United prodigy Morrison as one of his first moves as DC United boss.
While Rooney was managing Morrison for Derby County in 2021–2022, probably the 29-year-best season to date with four goals and four assists in 36 Championship appearances, the two both briefly donned Manchester United uniforms between 2010 and 2012.
Morrison, a Jamaican who plays for Manchester United, has also played for West Ham United, Lazio, Sheffield United, and ADO Den Haag. He started his career at Manchester United.
Morrison joined the Premier League team steams academy in 2009, and many at Old Trafford though he had the makings of a future superstar.
Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson regarded Morrison as the "best player he had seen at that age," according to Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand.
Despite his potential and promise, Morrison only made three appearances for Manchester United before being traded away in 2012.
The 29-year-old midfielder, whose contract with demoted Derby terminated at the end of last season, has since reconnected with his former manager.
According to numerous sources, Morrison'sMorrison's salary would have been tripled by DC to around $850,000 annually.

"Wayne worked closely with Ravel during his time as manager of Derby County," DC United'sUnited's president of soccer operations, Dave Kasper, said upon Morrison'sMorrison's arrival.
"Ravel is an incredible talent, and his ability to create and score goals is impressive. He has played at the highest levels during his career, and his vision, creativity and ability on the ball will be a huge asset for us."
Morrison is a Manchester United product who has played for 12 different clubs in his career, making DC United his 13th team. He has regularly struggled with his form, fitness, and consistency throughout his career.
Although Rooney has not yet responded to Morrison'sMorrison's move to DC United, he has previously stated that the Jamaican should have reached the "highest level" and that he was even better than Paul Pogba while the two were at United'sUnited's academy.
Morrison made 38 appearances for Derby under Rooney, scoring five goals and assisting on four more.
Morrison should have been a "£100 million player," according to Rooney'sRooney's United teammate Ferdinand, who also had high expectations for the player.
In a friendly match on Thursday, German champions Bayern Munich destroyed DC. United 6-2. On Sunday against Montreal, Rooney'sRooney's team will play again in the MLS.
