When Richarlison, 25, joined from Everton earlier this month, he became the second-most expensive acquisition in Tottenham's history.

The Brazil international will, however, face tough Competition from Son, who thrived last season alongside Harry Kane and Dejan Kulusevski, for a spot in Antonio Conte's starting XI.

The rivalry for positions, according to Son, will boost performance levels before Tottenham's return to the Champions League.

After a friendly draw with Sevilla, Son, speaking in his native South Korea, said: "Competition is always good. You improve yourself and also your teammates. We can rotate, or we can have a different style of football, or we can have different movements."

Kane is still "the best striker in the world," according to Son, who also urged the England international to have a stronger start to this season than he did in the previous year.

According to the South Korean forward, "We talked about this last season. Harry didn't score at the start of the season, but how many goals did he finish with?

"Goals with Harry I think there is no doubt. We don't have to worry about him scoring goals because he is, for me, the best partner, the best striker in the world still. He's working hard, he's an unselfish player."

Richarlison defends Son Heung Min during a brawl

Richarlison has only recently joined Tottenham, but he has already shown his dedication by standing up for teammate Son Heung-min amid a massive altercation between Spurs and Sevilla players during their pre-season match in South Korea.

Richarlison was participating in his second game for Spurs when he decided to defend Son as the contest between Spurs and Sevilla threatened to erupt. Richarlison joined the club this summer in a £60 million deal from Everton.

The friendship erupted when Son unintentionally elbowed Montiel in the face and caused a wound. After the referee blew for halftime, the Sevilla player refused to let the confrontation end and exited the field with blood in his mouth.

At the end of the first half, Montiel challenged Son. The Premier League Golden Boot winner shoved his opponent in return, and Richarlison then chose to enter the game by pushing his opponent as well.

As the two teams of players engaged in a brawl in scenes that would have had supporters giggling, Spurs cult star Christian Romero also got involved.

Son and Richarlison have become friends

Richarlison, a summer addition for Tottenham, has received praise from Son Heung-min, who acknowledges that the two have already forged a good friendship.

Son has a new colleague in Richarlison, a £60 million summer acquisition. The Premier League Golden Boot winner from the previous season has become close to the Brazilian and is confident that his addition will benefit everyone.

"Adding players like Richy is incredible. He's a quality player so I'm really enjoying that. I've been with him only four days, but he's become like a really close friend."

Harry Kane and Son have scored in both of Tottenham's two games in Korea, with both players scoring twice each in the 6-3 triumph over Team K-League on Wednesday and Kane scoring in the 1-1 draw with Sevilla on Saturday.

With his Golden Boot, Son has reached new heights, and his Spurs teammate Lucas Moura made the pass against Norwich that resulted in the goal that won him the trophy, which he shared with Mohamed Salah of Liverpool.

Lucas reflected on his decision-making process for aiding his friend that day while travelling across Korea.
