Football News: Seven players who could replace Cristiano Ronaldo in Man United this summer

Interestingly, a few players could fit the bill, especially when Erik ten Hag has revealed his interest in signing a centre-forward with Edinson Cavani having already left. Now that Ronaldo's departure is on the cards too the club needs a replacement more than ever. Here is a list of players linked with a move to United. 

Gianluca Scamacca

Gianluca Scamacca was one of Europe's breakout stars and is now regarded as one of the continent's best young strikers. The 23-year-old netted 16 times in Serie A during his spell at Sassuolo and represent Italy, and is now expected to enter the Premier League. Although Arsenal was rumoured to be interested, they picked Gabriel Jesus, which makes Old Trafford the preferred option. 

Victor Osimhen

The Nigeria international has amassed 28 goals in his first two seasons in Italy, 18 of which came in 2021-22. He can run deep with the ball and tackle defenders with ease. His game has been steadily turning heads, and he is expected to shift to Premier League sooner or later. 

Robert Lewandowski

The Pole footballer might not prefer to join Old Trafford due to their inability to offer Champions League football. Still, he wants to leave Bayern Munich, and Barcelona doesn't have the financial resources to make it happen. If United offloads Ronaldo, they can afford Lewandowski and actualise the link-up play Erik ten Hag wants from his strikers.

Paulo Dybala

Dybala is a free agent now that his contract with Juventus has expired. Inter Milan is not showing keen interest in the Argentina international, who might switch to Premier League. United is reported to have approached the 28-year-old. 

Moussa Dembele

Lyon forward Dembele is a hot topic regarding United'sUnited's list of transfer targets. Dembele, who scored 22 goals and five assists in Ligue 1 last term, will be a relatively cheaper option for Manchester United if Ronaldo'sRonaldo's departure is confirmed. The 26-year-old striker can be positioned on the wing to cover United's lack of wide flank players. 

Ivan Toney

Toney scored 33 goals to help Brentford get promoted from the Championship in 2020-21. He netted 12 goals and grabbed five assists in 33 league appearances to help his team avoid relegation. As United is all set to welcome Christian Eriksen into their roster, the signing of Toney would allow the pair to reunite and relive their partnership in Brentford. 

Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Calvert-Lewin'sCalvert-Lewin's brilliance has been overlooked in the last two seasons because of injuries. Under Carlo Ancelotti, the striker scored 13 and 16 league goals respectively and switched to Premier League. His prowess as a well-rounded striker could benefit United, who could only gain by signing the 25-year-old.
