Real Madrid defeated Celta Vigo 4-1 in a La Liga match at Santiago Estadio de Balaídos in Vigo, Pontevedra, Spain on August 21
Real Madrid showed their class to notch up another well-deserved victory against Celta Vigo to continue their La Liga title defence. Luka Modrić and Vini Jr controlled the game's flow by adding a goal and an assist each.
Karim Benzema in the 14th minute, Luka Modrić in the 41st minute, Vini Jr. in the 56th minute and Federico Valverde in the 66th minute were the goal scorers for Real Madrid. In contrast, Iago Aspas, in the 23rd minute, was the lone goalscorer for Celta Vigo.
The match began with Karim Benzema and Iago Aspas converting penalties for Real Madrid and Celta Vigo, respectively.
Luka Modrić made it 2-1 for Real Madrid with a fantastic long raged curling shot past Agustín Marchesín after receiving a pass from David Alaba with just four minutes left in the first half.
Real Madrid continued with the winning momentum in the second half
Vini Jr. distracted the keeper by drawing him off the line and fired the ball into the empty goal to make it 3-1 after receiving an excellent pass from the midfield maestro Luka Modrić.
Federico Valverde added another goal for Real Madrid to make it 4-1. Aurélien Tchouaméni charged toward the Celta Vigo goal through the midfield and passed the ball to Vini Jr.
The 22-year-old Brazilian forward did a beautiful stepover and passed the ball toward the penalty area. Federico Valverde made a run toward the ball and slotted it into the corner of the net with an excellent one-touch shot.
Celta Vigo started well but lost their momentum in the second half. Iago Aspas carried the team on his back with some help from new signing Goncalo Paciencia and proved to be the leading man for the hosts once again.
The victory extended the win streak of Real Madrid against Celta Vigo to 17 matches.
Real Madrid will next face RCD Espanyol de Barcelona at RCDE Stadium in a La Liga clash on August 27.
