Football News: Managers sacked till date in Premier League and Europe
The 2022-23 season has glided into the initial stages of the Champions League, and the risk of losing the biggest football tournament has prompted clubs to sack managers at the slightest hint of struggle. Here is a list of top managers that have been sacked in the current football season
Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea
Chelsea decided to let Thomas Tuchel go after an unexpected defeat to Croatian club Dinamo Zagreb. The German joined Stamford in the 2020-21 season leading the club to its second Champions League title.
However, the club, now owned by Todd Boehly, is off to a shaky start to the new season, having won just three of its first seven competitive fixtures.
Scott Parker, AFC Bournemouth
Scott Parker switched to Bournemouth from Fulham, and the former midfielder led his club back into the Premier League after two years.
The Cherries started their Premier League 2022-23 season with a victory over Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa, but they lost the next four matches, including a 0-4 defeat against Manchester City and a 0-9 thrashing in the hands of Liverpool.
Domenico Tedesco, RB Leipzig
Tedesco was given marching orders after this squad lost to Shakhtar Donetsk on home grounds.
The Italian, who joined in December 2021, guided Leipzig to their maiden major title, the DFB Pokal (German Super Cup), as they beat 10-time Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich.
After winning one match out of five this season, Leipzig is now 11th.
Mauricio Pochettino, PSG
Although Pochettino's name is stated in the list, he was sacked by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in June 2022, before the start of the 2022-23 season.
The Argentine was crucial in leading PSG to the Ligue 1 title trophy but couldn't make a difference in the Champions League, where they lost to Real Madrid in the round of 16.
Jorge Sampaoli, Olympique de Marseille
Sampaoli, who has previously coached the Argentina National Team, replaced Andre Villas-Boas at the club, but the former decided to leave in July 2022.
Marseille made 67 appearances, won 36 matches, lost 14 and drew 17 games. They secured 113 goals and conceded 73.
Managers who can be sacked in the future
With shocking departures making headlines, football is in danger of witnessing more manager sackings take place. Here's a list of the top managers who could be sacked in the current season.
Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool
With the advent of the new Premier League season, the Reds have clinched just two of their seven games and held draws against teams like
Palace, Fulham, and Everton
Moreover, Liverpool's best players are now failing to mould into the German system. Since top coaches like Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettini are available, we might see another Premier League sacking this season.
Brendan Rodgers, Leicester City
After an awful start to the season for Leicester City, manager Brendan Rodgers might be offloaded. The Foxes lost four openings in five matches and are at the bottom of the rankings with one point.
In addition, star defender Wesley Fofana's exit has added to their misfortune. So they might look for a different coach who could push them to success.
Simone Inzaghi, Inter Milan
Current Inter boss Simone Inzaghi's team, is struggling to make an impact at the start of the season. They lost three out of their six opening matches this season.
They lost to Lazio and AC Milan in the league and Bayern Munich in the Champions League. In addition, the team is plagued with problems behind the lens, as per reports.
The eighth-ranked team in the league might see a new coach take the wheel if the situation does not improve for them.
