Football News: Karim Benzema stays in Real Madrid
Karim Benzema is most likely to extend his contract with Real Madrid, as reported by Fabrizio Romano. Prolific France forward will be out of contract in the summer of 2023
However, an extension would tether him to Santiago Bernabeu Stadium for another season. Benzema has clarified that he intends to stay at the club, so a deal seems to be in the cards.
Besides president Florentino Perez and manager Carlo Ancelotti, the club's board are eager to retain Benzema for one more season. The news does not come as a surprise considering his contribution to the club.
In 2021, he scored 44 goals and assisted 15 more goals in just 46 matches. He netted 15 of them in the Champions League en route to his fifth final victory with the club.
He has scored four goals and provided an assist in eight matches this season, now added to his Real Madrid tally of 327 goals and 160 assists in 613 appearances.
Chelsea F.C. sent Christopher Nkunku a deal
Chelsea is one step ahead in pursuing RB Leipzig's star Christopher Nkunku. The player's camp was indecisive about sending him to Stamford, but now, Nkunku seems ready to make a move.
Nkunku scored 35 goals in all competitions last season, although he did not perform as an out-and-out striker. Understandably, he drew in the interest of many European clubs who decided to wait until his £52million release clause came out.
The 24-year-old has scored six goals in eight Bundesliga matches this term. He is the second-highest scorer in the division as of now. Nkunku is reportedly determined to leave Leipzig at the end of the season.
He will most probably make the £52million Chelsea move. Since his brilliant stint at Paris Saint Germain, he has become a reliable French international who might feature in this year's World Cup.
