Football News: ISL 2022-23 - Kerala Blasters FC's three brilliant selection
In the last term of the Indian Super League (ISL), Kerala Blasters FC regained their pace throughout the season
Their initial defeat in the hands of favourites ATK Mohun Bagan paved the way to two consecutive draws against NorthEast United FC and Bengaluru FC.
However, they won against Mumbai City FC and Chennaiyin FC, which motivated the Yellow Tuskers. Shortly after, Ivan Vukomanovic's squad beat League Shield winners Jamshedpur FC in the semi-final play-offs to arrange a clash against Hyderabad FC.
The Blasters then rolled ahead at the Fatorda Stadium when Hyderabad FC's midfield dynamo Sahil Tavora conceded a goal. However, the match favoured the Nizams in the end.
Kerala Blasters FC will hope to improve and walk away with silverware in the 2022-23 season. The Yellow Tuskers have consequently made impressive additions to the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Here, we have ranked the three new entries who will adorn the Kerala Blasters FC jersey in the upcoming season.
Bryce Miranda
The 22-year-old left a massive impact during his stint at the Goan I-League outfit Churchill Brothers FC. Miranda is versatile as he operates on both flanks and might be one of the best domestic signings made by the club this year.
Bryce Miranda will bring physical strength, speed, and on-the-ball trickery to the team. His entry will initiate growth and creativity. Before his arrival, the team was underperforming on the flanks.
They had a shortage of wingers before, so Bryce Miranda's addition is expected to help them resolve such issues. The Mumbai-born winger is agile and accustomed to running in small spaces.
He can crowd opposition boxes with crosses which bring more power to the Yellow Tuskers' attacking department in the upcoming season.
Apostolos Giannou
The Greek-Australian is set to replace outgoing Alvaro Vasquez. Apostolos Giannou resembles his predecessor in terms of playing style.
Giannou practices closing down on opposition players as soon as he gives away possession, a trait seen in Vasquez before.
Giannou's physicality is another obstacle for opposition defenders both aerially and on the ground. If the player leads the charge, Ivan Vukomanovic's men will take to the pitch unchanged.
They usually progress the ball vertically into pockets of space with other attackers making supporting runs, a style that has worked for them till now.
Ivan Kalyuzhnyi
The Ukrainian midfielder is a reliable player on the pitch. He is composed, creative and brutal, traits that can be used in the double pivot, seen in Kerala Blasters FC, alongside Puitea or Jeakson Singh.
In addition, he can fill in as an attacking midfielder behind Apostolos Giannou. Kalyuzhnyi can take any central position, excluding defense.
He knows the importance of tempo in football and can control it. His mastery over shooting long balls can be helpful for Kerala Blasters FC in their upcoming campaign
