Football News: Indian Super League-Mumbai City FC and Hyderabad FC active in transfer news
Mumbai City FC has signed Alberto Noguera and the 32-year-old as agreed upon a one-year contract with the Islanders, which will last till May 2023
The Madrid-born midfielder proved his talent at Getafe before Atlético Madrid recruited him in July 2009. He was named in the C team at the club and invited to train with the first team senior squad under Quique Sánchez Flores. He made his La Liga debut against Levante UD in 2011. Noguera left Spain in 2012 to explore more opportunities outside his homeland. He had brief spells with Blackpool in England and FC Baku in Azerbaijan.
In the summer of 2014, he went back to Spain to play for CF Trival Valderas, CF Fuenlabrada, and Lorca FC in the Spanish third tier. His versatility helped Lorca FC get promoted to the second tier in 2017. After that, he played for CD Numancia and was loaned out to Racing de Santander in the third tier until the 2018/19 season concluded. The Spaniard arrived in India in 2020, joining FC Goa, and since then, he has been considered one of the most influential midfielders in the league in the last two seasons. In his time in India, he has won the 2021 Durand Cup and has scored four goals and 11 assists in the ISL. Hyderabad FC brings Alex Saji from Gokulam Kerala
Before ISL 2022-23, Hyderabad FC decided to boost their defense by signing defender Alex Saji on a long-term contract, as announced on Friday. Saji identifies Hyderabad FC as a team that provides promising opportunities to youngsters, which will be helpful for him. He is thrilled to be training under coach Manolo and learning more as he dives into his maiden ISL season. His deal would bound him to the club till the 2024-25 season.
Saji, born and brought up in Kerela, is a product of the Red Star Football Academy. He competed for Gokulam Kerala in the I-League and lifted the title twice with the Malabarians in consecutive seasons. He is primarily a central defender who can play at right-back too. The 22-year-old has 26 I-League appearances to his credit and has also been a starter for Gokulam Kerala in the AFC Cup Group Stages this year. After an impressive performance in the Indian domestic circuit, Saji was invited to the Under-23 National Team to participate in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers. He is now ready to train under Manolo Marquez for the upcoming ISL 2022-23 campaign.
