Football News: Indian Super League - Greg Stewart Ends His Journey with Jamshedpur FC

    Greg Stewart, who claimed the Hero of the League award for his stellar run at the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 season, has decided to depart from Jamshedpur FC after a memorable stint

    The Scottish forward will be remembered for his contribution as he helped Jamshedpur FC secure the League Winners' Shield. The Club made a final statement acknowledging his time in the Club, "Thank you, Greg Stewart, for your immense contribution to the Men of Steel and your ever-lasting presence on the pitch which got us one step closer to creating history." They continued, "We wish you the very best for your journey ahead."

    Stewart was responsible for ten strikes and ten assists out of the 43 collected by the Men of Steel this season. He also produced 61 shots and 73 crosses, registering an average of over 40 passes per match throughout the season. After his exit, Jamshedpur FC will look for a replacement which could be the first task for new head coach Aidy Boothroyd. 

    Kerala Blasters Sign Defender Victor Mongol

    Kerala Blasters confirmed the signing of Spanish defender Victor Mongol for the 2022-23 season of the ISL from Odisha FC. His spell at the Club will continue till 2023, with an option to extend. The 29-year-old made his career debut with Spanish Club Valladolid and played for their B team before being promoted to the main team in the 2011-12 season. He played for Atletico Madrid B before being summoned by Georgian professional club FC Dinamo Tbilisi in 2019. He Dinamo Tbilisi won the Georgia title and competed for the Club in the Europa League.

    He could be a versatile centre-back and also operate in midfield. He joined ATK Mohun Bagan in the January transfer window of the 2019-20 ISL season. He proved to be instrumental in helping ATK win the title that season. He left ISL for a while and returned with Odisha FC in 2021. He was named the captain of the team. Victor Mongol is KBFC's second foreign summer signing after striker Apostolos Giannou. 

    Former India footballer Gouramangi Singh joins FC Goa as an assistant coach

    Former India international Gormangi Singh has joined ISL side FC Goa as its assistant coach before the start of the upcoming season. He is thrilled to join his former home, having played there for several years. According to Singh, it's a significant boost in his coaching career, considering the quality of their game. Additionally, it was easy for him to connect with Ravi Puskur, Director of Football and Carlos Pena, the head coach, who gave him a clear idea of the Club's project.

    Gouramangi Singh has represented some of the biggest football clubs in the country over his 15-year-long career. He is among the most successful Indian footballers, having won almost every club trophy in India. In 2010, he was named AIFF's Best Men's Player of the Year. After four years, he made his ISL debut with Chennaiyin FC.
