Football News: Have Arsenal done enough to fend off rivals in the Premier League
Although the 2021-2022 campaign was rather disappointing for Arsenal, with Tottenham Hotspur outpointing them to a ticket for Champions League play, The Gunners are back with a bang
Arteta's priority is building a team that is prepared to compete in the Europa League and sustain a challenge against the heavyweights of the top flight.
And the North Londoners are off to a great start this time. Despite the defeat to Manchester United, Arsenal triumphed at Selhurst Park, defeating London rivals Crystal Palace 2-0 with the help of an own goal and a header from Gabriel Martinelli.
Leicester City, Bournemouth, Fulham United, and Aston Villa were later dismissed.
Let's see if Arsenal has what it takes to conquer the other major 4 Premier League teams and their rivals in North London.
Arsenal: Major signings
Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira have arrived to provide creativity to the midfield, and Matt Turner, a United States international, has joined as a backup goalie.
Turner was pre-agreed upon, and Marquinhos and Vieira made wise decisions for a total estimated fee of £40.3 million.
Vieira went through the Porto academy and played 54 times for their senior team before making over 20 appearances for Portugal's U21 team. Arsenal decided to spend the same amount on Odegaard last summer after the player registered six goals and 14 assists in 27 league games.
Although it is unclear how Vieira will fit into Arteta's system, he may face off against the international from Norway for a spot in the starting lineup.
The most notable additions have been Oleksandr Zinchenko, a colleague from Manchester City, who cost £32 million, and striker Gabriel Jesus, who cost £45 million.
With four Premier League championships, one FA Cup, four EFL Cups, and an FA Community Shield under his belt, Zinchenko came into the match with a wealth of championship experience.
Mikel Arteta's list of arrivals at the Emirates Stadium has been completed with the appearances of talented centre-forward Gabriel Jesus, highly regarded Portuguese playmaker Fabio Vieira, American goalkeeper Matt Turner, teenage winger Marquinhos, and versatile fullback Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Despite having three bids rejected by Aston Villa on deadline day, Arsenal still managed to get a lot of work done. They were unsuccessful in their attempt to sign Douglas Luiz.
