Football News: Brazilian defender Alex Telles goes to Sevilla in a loan move as Manchester United's offloads

Brazilian defender Alex Telles of Manchester United is nearing a loan to Sevilla of La Liga. This summer has already seen many exits from Old Trafford, and the Brazilian player appears to be the most recent

Despite several players having left, the team's defensive unit is still full, and the departures have primarily been from the midfield area.

Telles, especially with Tyrell Malacia's presence, has become relatively unnecessary.

During the preseason tour, the defender rotated between centre back and midfield, only playing left back in the last match against Rayo Vallecano because his positional peers Malacia and Luke Shaw weren't on the team.

However, since Lisandro Martinez joined from Ajax, that won't continue into this Premier League season.

If Telles does not make a trade, his World Cup spot is at stake. After a 14-month sabbatical, the 29-year-old was called back to the Brazil team in January.

According to renowned transfer journalist Romano, the 29-year-old's deal to Sevilla has been agreed upon.

According to him, contracts are being prepared to be signed this week for a loan agreement with no requirement to purchase that will extend until 2023.

Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Telles moved to Manchester United in 2020 and paid €15 million (£13.6 million) to leave Porto. He participated in 50 competitive games for the team, with one goal and eight assists.

The defender will spend the season at Sevilla, where he will get the opportunity to establish his value for a competitor in Europe.

The transfer might be disclosed as soon as Wednesday after a scheduled medical.

Telles will be Sevilla's second summer signing after centre-back Marcao joined from Galatasaray following the high-profile departures of Diego Carlos and Jules Kounde.

How has Manchester United's transfer season been?

Manchester United have not been as active this summer as they would have liked, with top target Frenkie de Jong appearing no closer to signing.

If they cannot sign the Barcelona player, the team may pursue another midfielder, such as Leicester City's Youri Tielemans.

Manchester United is planning to sell up to six additional defenders during the summer transfer window to lower their salary bill.

The Red Devils still have a bloated team, particularly in defence, where players appear to have reached the end of their tenure at Old Trafford.

Despite their difficulties with De Jong, Manchester United has already done some impressive business this summer, with Christian Eriksen, Tyrel Malacia, and Lisandro Martinez joining Erik ten Hag's team.

They sold midfielder Andreas Pereira to Fulham for £10 million and completed a loan deal for right-back Ethan Laird, who has joined Watford.

Undoubtedly, more players will leave the club in the coming weeks.

Manchester United are looking to part ways with five other players, including Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, and Brandon Williams, in addition to Alex Telles.

Crystal Palace and recently promoted Bournemouth have both expressed interest in Wan-Bissaka and Axel Tuanzebe.

Phil Jones is expected to rejoin old teammate Wayne Rooney at DC United.

Meanwhile, Sevilla, AS Roma, AC Milan, and Fulham have all expressed interest in Eric Bailly. The Ivory Coast international has decided to leave United to play first-team football.

Brighton is interested in Brandon Williams as a possible replacement for Marc Cucurella, who is set to join Chelsea this summer.

According to reports, the Seagulls are willing to pay up to £15 million for Williams, and Manchester United are eager to accept such a bid.
