Football News: - Barcelona VS Real Valladolid, Robert Lewandowski makes his mark yet again
On Sunday, Barcelona defeated Real Valladolid 4-0 in a lopsided LaLiga matchup, with both goals coming from Robert Lewandowski
With seven points, two behind leaders Real Betis and Real Madrid, Barcelona climbed up to third place after their second win in as many games to start the new season.
After two disappointing performances in a row, the team felt the heat and did not want to disappoint their fans by losing again.
Barcelona was the better team all night long, and their fantastic forward play resulted in four excellent goals that gave them the win and sent the home crowd home contented.
Robert Lewandowski scores two but is denied a hat-trick
In the 24th minute, Barçelona took the lead as Raphinha sent Robert Lewandowski with a brilliant through ball. Twenty minutes later, Pedri added a second on the strength of a cushioned pass from Ousmane Dembele.
Barça's performance in the first half was as good as their fans hoped. The Blaugrana were dominant in the first half, creating numerous scoring opportunities with their excellent forward play.
Their defence was also quite strong, particularly their intense pressing that frequently stripped the ball from Valladolid's hands when it looked like they may score.
While Ronald Araujo dominated in his preferred central defence role, Jules Kounde looked confident and assured in his first game at right back. There was a lot of life in the middle of the field, and the front three were unstoppable.
Lewandowski scored in the 24th minute after a brilliant Raphinha cross to the far post. Earlier in the first half, Ousmane Dembele and Lewandowski both had shots that missed the post for Barca.
Pedri scored 20 minutes later when Ousmane Dembele fed him a soft pass.
At halftime, a two-goal lead gave a dominant Barça the opportunity for a significant win if they could maintain their performance.
In the second period, Lewandowski scored twice more, once with a backheel considered to be among the most impressive of the match.
After a few excellent opportunities were squandered, Dembélé made another spectacular run and assisted Lewandowski for the game's third goal, which the Polish striker finished with a backheel.
Thanks to a tiny deflection from Joaquin, which didn't take away from the incredible finish.
The game ended after Barcelona scored three unanswered goals. Since the Pole failed to complete his hat trick, Sergi Roberto scored the fourth goal.
