Football Gossips and News: Carlo Ancelotti, Liverpool and Chelsea
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that it was tougher to prepare for the Blues in the Champions League, whereas Liverpool did not put up a challenging game
On Saturday night, the comment responds to Madrid's 1-0 win against the Reds in the UCL finals. Vinicius Jr converted despite Liverpool dominating for significant parts of the first half. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah's powerful strikes couldn't get past Thibaut Courtois as he stood as Madrid's strong pillar throughout the 90 minutes, helping them secure the title.
The match didn't live up to Los Blancos' expectations, considering how they are used to tackling challenges in a game. The latest season witnessed them making comebacks in their ties against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City, so it was shocking to see them win with ease against the six-time champions. Chelsea shocked Madrid when they overcame the 3-1 deficit to briefly take the lead in Bernabeu, only to be overpowered again due to Rodrygo and Karim Benzema.
Todd Boehly's Chelsea takeover has been completed
Chelsea has been sold for £4.25billion to a consortium led by American investor Todd Boehly and private equity firm Clearlake Capital. After a lengthy period of tensions, the takeover was completed following Abramovich's decision to sell the club in March. He was sanctioned over his links to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Chelsea was functioning under a special government licence to expire on May 31.
The consortium edged past 11 rivals to become the new owners after the sale commenced on March 2 and had more than 250 enquiries. Todd revealed that they were fully invested in every minute of every match. Their vision as owners revolves around making the fans proud. "Along with our commitment to developing the youth squad and acquiring the best talent, our plan of action is to invest in the club for the long term and build on Chelsea's remarkable history of success," he said. Meanwhile, the UK government is against Abramovich receiving any of the proceeds from the sale, which will collect in a frozen bank account to be donated to charities supporting victims of the war in Ukraine.
Pau Torres' agents are in the UK amid United and Chelsea talk
Spain defender Pau Torres might join Old Trafford as per reports that the 25-year-old claims to only have received an offer from Villarreal. However, a few rumours link him to a move to Manchester United. The transfer has been "discussed and negotiated" with his representatives who travelled to England over the weekend. The centre-back has been a previous target for the Red Devils during the reign of their former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has also been linked with Chelsea. It is believed that the United boss Erik Ten Hag wants to sign the international by all means.
