The result of Didier Deschamps' nine team substitutions, many of which were to save his first-choice lineup for upcoming matches, was a quiet 1-0 loss to Tunisia.
Poland narrowly defeated Mexico on goal differential to advance from the group stage. In the end, the Mexicans' clean sheet in their 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia was crucial because they let up a goal in their subsequent 2-1 triumph over the same team. For this knockout game, France will undoubtedly call back their best players, and if they perform well, they should have too much talent for a Polish team that has yet to shine. The weight of Poland's aspirations continues to lie on the shoulders of striker Robert Lewandowski. He is aware that the French defence has been breached in each group game, and if given good support, he will be a challenge for them. France is a firm favourite to win the match.
