Fans spare Kylian Mbappé amidst Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. ill-treatment
In their match against Bordeaux in Ligue 1, both Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. were booed and sarcastically cheered by the fans of Paris Saint-Germain Football Club during the match.
The home fans jeered and whistled at the South American duo, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr, throughout the game. But at one instance when Neymar took a free-kick and missed it, fans cheered on him sarcastically.
However, Paris Saint-Germain came out of the game victorious as Kylian Mbappe scored a goal in 24 minutes and the home support cheered his goal. Neymar Jr also scored a goal, taking the tally to 2-0 after 52 minutes. Unfortunately, the Brazilian was again taunted and decided not to celebrate his goal.
Commenting on the situation later, Luis Alberto Suárez Díaz, a former teammate of Lionel Messi and Neymar at FC Barcelona also defended Messi and Neymar. He wrote, "As always #footballwithoutmemory, always with you. Love you both so much." Suarez, Lionel Messi, and Neymar were part of the famed ‘MSN’ trio that dominated at FC Barcelona and took the club to new heights.
With the 3-0 win over the league's bottom team, Paris Saint-Germain moved 15 points clear at the top and continued their march toward the Ligue 1 title.
When Lionel Messi was brought into the French club, fans expected a guaranteed qualification into the final stage of the league. However, the former Barcelona sensation couldn’t live up to the standards at his new home. The same thing happened to Neymar Jr., who was inducted into the club on lavish terms.
But this fan reaction has come as a shock to many in the community as no one expected such a reaction from the French football fans. However, what surprised commentators the most was the completely contrasting treatment of Frenchman Kylian Mbappe by the fans.
The forward had remained consistent in the league and was also the sole goal-scorer in the dramatic match against Real Madrid.
The French giants were leading by 1-0 against Madrid in the first leg and then Kylian Mbappé increased the tally to 2-0 later in the match. However, Karim Benzema scored a stunning hat trick and squashed Paris Saint-Germain Football Club side in what was a stunning comeback.
Following the horrendous loss, rumors started floating around the internet about a scuffle that broke at the camp between Neymar Jr. and Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Following their 1-3 loss to Real Madrid, reports came in that the Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma Cavaliere and Brazilian forward Neymar Jr. had to be separated from each other as a scuffle broke out.
This came after the teammates were involved in a verbal spat, blaming each other for the loss and ultimately the exit from the round-of-16.
However, the Brazilian himself has the rumors and also cleared it up over an Instagram post. Stating that "Hi Ney. Sorry about yesterday. This news story is unacceptable,” Neymar Jr shared a screenshot of his conversation with the teammate.
“No worries! That can happen in football. We're a team, and we're with you," NeymarJr replied to the Italian.
Neymar Jr addressed all the reports and claimed, "there was no fight inside the dressing room."
