Coutinho is on the move to Aston Villa. Man U flops going to PSG
According to Media reports, Barcelona and Aston Villa are in talks to make Philippe Coutinho's loan move to the Premier League side permanent in the summer
Villa has a €40 million option to sign Coutinho after the season, but they are hesitant to make such a significant investment.
However, with manager Steven Gerrard desperate to keep Coutinho, Liverpool is attempting to negotiate a lower deal of roughly €20 million with Barcelona, who are willing to take a hefty hit on their €160 million record signing.
In January, Coutinho, 29, took a pay cut to join Villa after falling down the pecking order under Xavi Hernandez at Barcelona.
He has scored four goals and provided three assists in 15 Premier League outings for Villa Park under former Liverpool colleague Gerrard.
"We want Coutinho here," he remarked of his former Liverpool teammate yesterday. On Saturday in the Premier League, the 29-year-old came on as a substitute against Burnley. "Philippe has grasped, he's played a lot of games in a row," Gerrard stated when he came in in the 80th minute.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the English club agreed to pay 65 percent of the Brazilian's salary. According to Barcelona sources, Coutinho's departure resulted in €7 million in savings.
However, on the other side of the world, PSG is eyeing the supposed flop of Manchester United.
According to sources from France, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is a top target for Paris Saint-Germain in the summer transfer season.
Pogba's contract with Manchester United expires in the summer, and he is expected to leave as a free agent after a poor second time at the club, despite being on the perimeter of Ralf Rangnick's plans.
PSG is working to place itself in a position to sign the France international, which is thought to have high contract demands that will deter many other clubs.
Pogba has failed to establish absolute consistency since rejoining United for £93.2 million in 2016, accomplishing it only in spurts, particularly in the final six months of last season.
The Frenchman's failure to nail down one place in the United Lineup has frequently repercussions for his inconsistency, albeit this can ultimately be attributed to the coaches.
Pogba has been used as a pivot in a two-person midfield, exposing his lack of discipline. Starting from higher up the pitch, he has struggled as a number ten. And, despite his preference for playing in the center, as a left flank, where he has perhaps had his best stretches.
In his second time at Manchester United, Pogba scored 38 goals and added 49 assists in 219 games, allowing him to win the Europa League and League Cup. However, commentators and fans might have expected a little more from a player with so much potential.
