Chelsea reportedly interested in signing Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane
Chelsea are reportedly eyeing a summer move for Bayern Munich's Sadio Mane, with the Blues keen to add more firepower to their forward line.
Reports have emerged that Chelsea are interested in signing Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane.
The Senegal international left Liverpool to join the Bundesliga champions last summer and made a positive start to life in Germany, scoring 11 goals in his first 23 appearances for the club.
However, Mane suffered an injury in November which kept him sidelined until February, and since his return, he has struggled to regain his form, scoring just one goal in 11 appearances across all competitions.
There have also been rumours that new Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is not a big fan of Mane's and would be willing to offload him if the right offer were tabled.
The situation was made worse when Mane was involved in a dressing room altercation with Bayern teammate Leroy Sane following their Champions League defeat to Manchester City. The 31-year-old was subsequently suspended for their 1-1 draw against Hoffenheim.
With Chelsea looking to bolster their forward line, Mane's versatility could be appealing, as he can play through the middle as well as out wide. Bayern reportedly want to recoup the majority of the £27million plus add-ons that they paid Liverpool for Mane's services.
Despite already spending £600million over the last two transfer windows, Chelsea are expected to continue strengthening their squad this summer.
Mane's Premier League experience, having scored 111 goals and provided 47 assists in 263 appearances for Southampton and Liverpool, could also be a factor in the Blues' interest in the striker.
