Chelsea News: Stamford bridge will now have a Inter Milan youngster Cesare Casadei
Chelsea and Inter Milan have agreed on a fee for 19-year-old Cesare Casadei, who will play at Stamford Bridge this season
As part of the deal for Cesare Casadei, the Blues will pay an initial fee of €15 million, with additional add-ons of €5 million.
The Blues monitored Cesare Casadei, 19, throughout the summer transfer window and had two bids rejected by Inter.
Thomas Tuchel was eager to bring in new players this summer, with Todd Boehly and academy director Neil Bath supporting the head coach's vision.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has several options in midfield and is still interested in Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
As a result, Casadei may be assigned to the development squad or loaned back to Serie A.
The Italy Under-19 international has been with Inter since he was 15, having joined from Cesena.
Since then, the midfielder has shone for the Under-19s, scoring 25 goals and assisting seven times in 66 appearances for the Primavera.
Maurizio Viscidi, the coach of the Italian national team, recently praised the star player as one to watch.
The young Italian has three goals in 12 appearances for his country's Under-19 team.
On the other hand, Casadei never made a senior appearance under Simone Inzaghi or Antonio Conte before him.
Chelsea could have hit a midfield jackpot with Casadei.
The Italian football system is currently producing a golden generation of central midfielders.
Last summer's Euros saw Marco Verratti, Jorginho, and Nicolo Barella lead Italy to victory. At the same time, Roberto Mancini's squad now includes young players like Sandro Tonali, Manuel Locatelli, and Davide Frattesi.
Cesare Casadei of Inter Milan is the next man off the productive conveyor belt.
Chelsea's pursuit of Casadei demonstrates the club's determination to bolster the young talent on their books.
They signed 18-year-old goalkeeper Gabriel Slonina from Chicago Fire and midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa for £20 million this summer.
They are interested in Palmeiras prodigy Endrick, even though the Brazilian is being pursued by many of Europe's top clubs.
It is unclear whether Chelsea intends to immediately promote Casadei to the first team.
Thomas Tuchel has a lot of midfield competition, so that Casadei could start in the development squad. Another option would be to loan him back to Serie A.
On the other hand, Chelsea must make plans to bolster their midfield options. The contracts of N'Golo Kante and Jorginho expire next year.
Kante shone in Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday, but the Frenchman is 31 years old and is set to miss more time with a hamstring injury.
Chelsea is also thought to be considering a bid for Everton winger Anthony Gordon, but the Toffees are adamant that the 21-year-old is not for sale.
Chelsea has already spent a lot of money on their first team this summer, signing Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Marc Cucurella, but they plan to add more players.
They are interested in Leicester defender Wesley Fofana and are still in talks with Barcelona about Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Frenkie de Jong.
