According to sources, Chelsea and Barcelona have yet to agree on a deal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

However, according to trade specialist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona wants €30 million (£25.3 million) for the attacker, which Chelsea is now hesitant to fulfil.

What happened to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Barcelona

After joining FC Barcelona on a free transfer earlier this year, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang became an instant star.

Despite only playing 23 games in the second half of the season, the former Arsenal captain had hit the ground running and finished the 2021/22 season as Barcelona's top scorer.

However, Aubameyang's status at Camp Nou has dwindled since the arrival of Robert Lewandowski during the current transfer window.

The 33-year-old has thus become FC Barcelona's second-choice striker, with only one substitute appearance so far. And Aubameyang's time with the Blaugrana could be over in six months, with Chelsea interested in securing his services.

Chelsea's interest follows the exits of Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner from Stamford Bridge.

Since then, Thomas Tuchel has relied on Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz as his key goal scorers. However, the tandem has struggled to deliver in the early stages of the 2022/23 season.

Chelsea has already spent more than £150 million this summer under new owner Todd Boehly, signing players such as Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, and Kalidou Koulibaly.

Chelsea's need to buy a proven striker has intensified recently, particularly in light of Leeds United's humiliation last weekend.

And Aubameyang has surfaced as a possible target for Chelsea, with the Blues negotiating a deal with Barcelona.

Chelsea has filed a bid for Barcelona target Marcos Alonso. However, the Catalan giants want to capture the Spanish full-back in a separate deal and have agreed on a fee of €20 million with the Blues. And the Barcelona attacker is on his way to the west London club.

In recent weeks, they have also been connected with Leicester's Wesley Fofana, with Brendan Rodgers confirming that the Foxes have turned down three proposals from Premier League rivals for the defender.

Meanwhile, Chelsea is interested in Everton winger Anthony Gordon, and it has been suggested that the west London club would be willing to pay up to £60 million for the teenager.

They do not want to spend much money on Aubameyang, who turned 33 in June.

The Gabonese striker has slid down the pecking order at the Nou Camp this season since the arrival of Robert Lewandowski. However, he has already established himself in the Premier League at Arsenal.

He scored 92 goals in 163 outings with the Gunners before leaving earlier this year after a quarrel with manager Mikel Arteta.
