Burnley F.C. sacked manager Sean Dyche in the midst of the Premier League after 10 years in charge

Sean Dyche, 50, was Burnley's manager for nearly 10 years. With some great achievements in his name at Turf Moor. But the club revealed that they had parted ways with Sean Dyche after their latest loss in the Premier League.

Sean Dyche was the longest-serving Premier League manager. He had managed to keep Burnley in the top flight for five seasons, despite having one of the lowest budgets in the league.

The team is now last third on the table and four points behind Everton, whom they beat last week. ALK Capital, the club's owner, has fired their manager, who signed a new four-year contract eight months ago.

This decision by Burnley chairman, Alan Pace, has been a shocker given Dyche's abilities to navigate a relegation fight but also because he has promoted Burnley twice to the Premier League while in charge.

Firstly, Pace thanked Dyche and his staff for their service to the club in the last decade and recognized them for their achievements. Pace accepted that Dyche was respected on and off the field by all the players and staff alike.

He then mentioned that with the last 8 crucial games remaining in the season, Burnley brass reached a consensus that a change was needed for the club to retain its Premier League status. Keep in mind the disappointing results in the games prior to the sacking.

Before this, Burnley was able only to win 4 league matches this season and have lost 5 of their last 6 matches. This includes a 2-0 defeat at bottom club Norwich last Sunday that may have influenced this decision.
