Bundesliga: Nico Schlotterbeck wants Mats Hummels and Marco Reus to stay at Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund should hold on to Bundesliga veterans Mats Hummels and Marco Reus, according to centre-back Nico Schlotterbeck.
Hummels (34) and Reus (33) are both on contracts that will expire at the end of June, and Schlotterbeck believes it's important for BVB to retain the experienced duo's services.
"I hope they stay, of course," he told Sport Bild.
"When Marco or Mats say something in the dressing room, their word carries weight and then it will be implemented.
"They are two great guys that I have learned to appreciate a lot. They have a lot of experience, they are good guys and above all they are both brutally good footballers."
Schlotterbeck has been the mainstay of Dortmund's line-up this season, as he is the only player at the club to have started every Bundesliga game.
"I don't think it's an easy decision for the coach, because we have three very good center backs," he said when asked about playing in every league game.
"Gratitude is a good word. I'm happy that Edin always starts me and trusts me even when I've made mistakes - and of course I want to pay him back."

Dortmund will face Bayern Munich in a crunch Bundesliga clash at the Allianz Arena on April 1st, after the international friendlies, with BVB only one point clear of Die Roten at the top of the standings.
