Julian Nagelsmann backs under-fire Bayern Munich duo Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry
Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has shown his support for forward Leroy Sane and winger Serge Gnabry, both of whom have struggled for form this season.
Speaking to the press, Nagelsmann said, "Each player has their own character. It's important to respect, accept and deal with the characteristics of the players. Leroy and Serge have exceptional qualities. I always try to support them. I'm not one to try to change players' characters.
"Leroy is one of the best players in Europe. We need him. The same applies to Serge. They must be aware of their abilities. Both of them can be decision-makers at important moments."
Nagelsmann also spoke specifically about the 27-year-old Gnabry, who has faced criticism in recent weeks. "We had a good conversation; he played well against PSG and scored a nice goal. It was very good; he scored a goal and otherwise made a good impression."
Despite the inconsistent performances from Sane and Gnabry, Nagelsmann has not given up on the duo, and is confident they will soon regain their form. The Bayern manager stressed that consistency will be key for both players if they want to secure a regular starting role.
The Bavarian giants have had to rotate their squad frequently this season, but Nagelsmann is confident that Sane and Gnabry can work their way back into the starting line-up.
Bayern will be looking to secure another victory when they take on Augsburg at the Allianz Arena on Saturday afternoon.
