Brentford impresses with their performance to give Chelsea a record-breaking defeat
Brentford put on, arguably, their most impressive performance of the season to take on Chelsea with a score of 4-1 at Stamford Bridge, with Christian Eriksen as one of the goalscorers who secured their historic first win in the west London derby win against Chelsea in over 83 years.
A goal from Christian Eriksen, two from Vitaly Janelt, and an impromptu goal from Yoane Wissa secured Brentford an unexpected 4-1 win over the west London rivals Chelsea FC in the Premier League on Saturday.
Brentford dominates Chelsea after half-time to register their win
During the first half, Brentford were in good form, but they were punished for failing to take chances as Antonio Rudiger flashed a brilliant 30-yard shot over David Raya. Chelsea center-back Antonio Rudiger brought the game to life after a dull half at Stamford Bridge, three minutes after the break.
However, the European champions were only ahead for 2 minutes when Bryan Mbuemo put Janelt through to score. Brentford's swift and stunning reaction when Vitaly Janelt hammered home the equalizer a minute later.
Janelt brought the away side of Stamford Bridge into raptures in the 60th minute. Substitute Wissa added the icing to the top in the game's final minute to cause a disappointing Chelsea for their first home loss since September.
The golden moment occurred in the 54th minute when Bryan Mbeumo slid a pass to Christian Eriksen, who scored as the visiting crowd cheered. Mbuemo came with a second assist for Brentford with a deft strike to Eriksen to allow Eriksen to achieve his debut goal with his new club during the 55th minute.
Eriksen, whose career was uncertain after falling on the field at the European Championship last year, was also a double scorer in two matches for the country during the last international break.
And Brentford did not stop at that point, Janelt breaking clear again in the final minute to beat Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy before substitute Yoane Wissa sealed their triumph in the final moments.
Brentford is currently on 33 points, 11 ahead of Watford, and is resting on the third place. So they can surely think about Premier League football again next season.
Thomas Tuchel needs to revamp his defensive forces
Thomas Tuchel may have failed to be named Manager of the Month. However, the German coach guided Chelsea towards 12 victories from 13 matches before their progress on the pitch was stopped by players flying across the globe.
Chelsea had a successful six-match run in March, but they were not fully engaged from the beginning to last and were charged the cost. As a result, they lost their second game on Stamford Bridge this season.
If they repeat their shoddy defensive performances, the chances of winning the trophy they won in June may be over.
Chelsea defeated Newcastle by 1-0 in their previous match with a last-minute goal scored by Kai Havertz, which helped Chelsea get towards the finals of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and FA Cup semi-finals.
