Borussia Dortmund suffer a blow as Karim Adeyemi gets injured in Bundesliga match
Borussia Dortmund continued their impressive winning streak against Hertha Berlin on Sunday with a 4-1 victory at Signal Iduna Park in their Bundesliga clash.
However, the win was marred by a possible serious injury sustained by striker Karim Adeyemi. The 21-year-old limped off the pitch with a suspected hamstring injury during the first-half, leaving coach Edin Terzic concerned.
"Karim Adeyemi was extremely important for us (against Hertha). He not only scored the first goal but also assisted the second goal. We need to wait and see. It currently looks like he'll be sidelined for the time being," said Terzic.
"We hope he can come back quickly and build on the form that he's been in."
Adeyemi, who has been in excellent form since the start of the year and scored in each of his last four appearances for the club, picked up his injury while setting up Dortmund's second goal on Sunday.
Though he managed to return to the pitch at full-time and was seen applauding the fans, the extent of his injury is yet to be confirmed.
The injury to the German international is a major blow to Dortmund's hopes of securing a place in the top four of the Bundesliga. With the club's next fixtures against Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig, they will be hoping that Adeyemi's absence won't be too long.
As coach Terzic said, "We hope he can come back quickly and build on the form that he's been in." Dortmund's fans will be eagerly awaiting updates on the forwards condition and hoping for a swift recovery.
