Borussia Dortmund confirms Youssoufa Moukoko's syndesmosis tear, will miss Chelsea clash
Borussia Dortmund's rising star Youssoufa Moukoko is set to miss the Champions League first leg against Chelsea after a syndesmosis tear injury was revealed by the club's director Sebastian Kehl.
Although the official announcement is yet to be made, Kehl disclosed the news to journalist Jorn Petersen of Germany's Kicker Magazine on Monday.
The injury comes as a setback for the 18-year-old phenom, who recently signed a new contract with the club. Kehl expressed his disappointment, saying that the news is "quite bitter" for the young player.
Moukoko has already scored six goals for Dortmund this season and has been a regular starter under trainer Edin Terzic.
However, with a recovery period of around six weeks expected, he will miss out on the crucial Champions League clash against Chelsea on Wednesday.
The injury is a huge blow for the club, who will need to rely on other players to step up in Moukoko's absence.
Dortmund will hope to overcome the setback and secure a positive result against the Blues on Wednesday.
