Bayern Munich stunned out of the Champions League by Villareal
After last week’s 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich at El Madrigal stadium, Villareal tied against Bayern Munich 1-1 in the second leg of their Champions League quarter-final match at Allianz Arena
sealing a place in the Champions League semifinals with a 2-1 aggregate win.
Robert Lewandowski, in the 52nd minute, was the sole goal scorer for Bayern Munich, while Samuel Chukwueze, in the 88th minute, was the goal scorer for Villareal. The match went just like the first leg of the quarter-final, with Bayern dominating the field but struggling to convert. Bayern controlled 68% of the ball, took almost six times more shots than Villareal and had better pass accuracy. However, Villareal played well and just conceded one goal on back to back attacks from Bayern Munich.
Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring for Bayern Munich in the 52nd minute, after a goalless first half when the German midfielder Thomas Müller intercepted a sloppy pass from Dani Parejo and calmly landed the ball at Lewandowski’s feet, who then sent the ball into the net with a quick shot, giving Bayern a 1-0 lead.

Villareal has made it to the Champions League semi-finals for the second time, after previously doing so in 2005-06.
They will next play in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final match on April 28.
