Bayern Munich are making preparations for the anticipated departures of Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez, the French defensive pair.

Hernandez has recently informed club officials of his decision to join Paris-Saint Germain, while Pavard is also seeking a new venture this summer.

English media reports suggest that the Bavarian club is currently engaged in talks with Manchester City's Kyle Walker as a potential replacement for Pavard. German media indicates that discussions between Walker and Bayern are progressing.

However, on Monday, the English media reported that Walker is content with extending his tenure at Manchester City. The English club are also willing to retain Walker for the upcoming season, with several reports hinting at ongoing contract negotiations with the right-back.

Nevertheless, Die Roten remain interested in securing Walker's signature and will persist in pursuing the deal. Nonetheless, the 33-year-old English international is not the sole Premier League defender on Bayern's radar to replace Benjamin Pavard.

According to SportBild, Chelsea's Cesar Azpilicueta is also on Die Roten's shortlist should they fail to reach an agreement for Walker. The Spanish defender predominantly operates as a right-back but can also excel as a centre-back in a back three formation. Azpilicueta played a pivotal role under coach Thomas Tuchel during his tenure at Chelsea.

Throughout the past decade, the former Marseille defender has exhibited consistent performances for Chelsea. Alongside his attributes on and off the ball, he has emerged as a leader at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel regularly included him in the starting XI during his time at Chelsea, making a potential reunion enticing for both parties if a move for Walker falls through.

Azpilicueta's current contract at Chelsea has one year remaining. It remains uncertain whether he is part of Mauricio Pochettino's plans at Stamford Bridge. Having won every possible trophy with Chelsea, Die Roten might entice him with a fresh challenge in the Bundesliga.

In the coming weeks, Bayern's plans to replace Pavard will become clearer. If they make headway with Walker, the pursuit of Azpilicueta may not progress. Meanwhile, the Bavarian club hopes to receive concrete offers for Benjamin Pavard from other clubs.
