Bayern Munich defeats Borussia Dortmund 3-1 to win the tenth straight Bundesliga title
Bayern Munich won against Borussia Dortmund 3-1 in a Bundesliga match at Allianz Arena on April 23, 2022, to win their tenth consecutive Bundesliga title with three matches left to play.
Bayern Munich has won 31 Bundesliga titles since the introduction of the league in 1963. Bayern Munich sealed their title victory as they are now 12 points ahead of Borussia Dortmund with just three games left to play. It was an important win for Bayern following their disappointing exit from the Champions League quarter-finals against Villareal earlier this month.
Serge Gnabry in the 15th minute, Robert Lewandowski in the 34th minute, and Jamal Musiala in the 83rd minute were the goal scorers for Bayern Munich, while Emre Can in the 52nd minute was the sole goal scorer for Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern Munich got an early lead in the 15th minute as Serge Gnabry netted a powerful shot past Marwin Hitz after receiving a brilliant cross from midfielder Leon Goretzka. They soon doubled their lead when Robert Lewandowski slammed the ball into the bottom left corner of the net after receiving a pass inside the penalty box from Thomas Müller. The first half ended with a 2-0 lead for Bayern Munich.
Emre Can opened the scoring for Borussia Dortmund seven minutes into the second half with a successful penalty, narrowing Bayern’s lead to 2-1. In the 83rd minute, a shot by Jamal Musiala got deflected and landed back at his feet. He took the shot again and sent the ball into the bottom left corner of the net on his second attempt. The second half ended with Bayern Munich emerging victorious over Borussia Dortmund with a score of 2-1.
The victory against their close rivals with a controlled performance secured the Bundesliga title win for Bayern Munich, giving the new coach Julian Nagelsmann his first league crown.
