Bayern Munich and Robert Lewandowski deny transfer reports
This summer, Europe's top strikers might be in for plenty of movement, with Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, and Robert Lewandowski looking to move on.
As Barcelona searches for an affordable alternative to Erling Haaland, the Polish forward Lewandowski, currently with Bayern Munich, seems to be the perfect match. Lewandowski's contract expires in 2023.
And it is in public knowledge, Lewandowski would be a cheaper alternative to bring a world-class striker to Camp Nou.
In addition to denying reports that Lewandowski has agreed to join Barcelona this summer, Bayern Munich and Lewandowski have also avoided committing his future to the club.
There is much uncertainty about Lewandowski's future at Bayern Munich with his unclear contract situation, and there has been no progress in negotiating a new deal.
Bayern Munich CEO falsifies Robert Lewandowski's transfer reports.
The Bayern Munich supremo was pretty frank on the 'nonsense' stories about Lewandowski. He said that Bayern Munich isn't crazy enough to trade a player who scores 30-40 goals for them every season.
Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn previously said, "It's good that you're addressing him. Apparently, there's a competition out there; who will come up with the bigger nonsense story about Robert Lewandowski?"
Kahn then continued, "First of all, it is very important that we have a contract with Robert Lewandowski that lasts another season. We have always said that we will start the talks, and we started them a long time ago. As soon as there is something to report, then we will do it too."
Robert Lewandowski opens up on the situation.
Robert Lewandowski described his situation at Bayern Munich as 'not easy' as the Polish star refused to make any announcement regarding his future.
After retaining the Bundesliga title, Lewandowksi entered the final year of his contract with the German club. This was achieved with a 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
With Barcelona's interest in Lewandowski being publically known, it is apparent that the 33-years-old needs to make a big decision soon.
After their win against Borussia Dortmund, Lewandowski said a meeting had been arranged soon, but nothing significant has come up so far. The 33-year-old also expressed his uneasiness and noted that this situation wasn't easy for him.
The club's current contract with the 33-year old striker expires in 2023.
Reportedly, the La Liga side would offer Lewandowski a contract for three years, subject to his request, if they can reach an agreement with Bayern Munich.
He ranks second in all-time Bundesliga goalscorer lists with 309 goals in 379 appearances. It includes his ten league titles.
