Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspurs preview: Head-to-head, predicted line-up & prediction
The Premier League resumes after the international break with the North London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates.
Saturday at noon, Arsenal hosts their fierce north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The Gunners have only lost once in their last 29 Premier League north London derbies at home. In November 2010, Arsenal held a 2-0 halftime lead over Tottenham Hotspur before Harry Redknapp's Spurs staged a stunning comeback.
The hosts have won each of their past six Premier League matches at the Emirates Stadium, and they have conceded at least one goal in each of those contests, while Tottenham's renowned offence has more than one reason to silence the home crowd.
Head-to-head in all competitions: Tottenham wins: 67, Arsenal wins: 84, Draws: 54
Tottenham Hotspur predicted lineup
Antonio Conte's audacious substitution of Son Heung-min for Jamie Vardy against Leicester City paid rewards, as the South Korea international snapped his goalless run spectacularly. Conte had faced numerous cries from Tottenham supporters to sit Son Heung-min, who was without a goal.
Son Heung min entered the game in the 59th minute, and by the 86th minute, it was apparent that he would be taking home the match ball, as his 13-minute hat-trick complemented goals scored by Harry Kane, Eric Dier, and Rodrigo Bentancur in a 6-2 victory.
The Lilywhites bounced back from their Champions League loss to Sporting Lisbon with a flawless performance against Leicester. Still, only two of their past seven competitive matches away from home have resulted in victories, and the Emirates is not a happy hunting ground for them.
Hugo Lloris, Tottenham's first-choice goalkeeper, withdrew from France duties with a thigh injury, and it is presently unknown if he will be able to play this weekend.
Fraser Forster is on standby, and Antonio Conte hopes to have Ben Davies (knee) and Lucas Moura (tendon) ready. Lloris's injury was regarded as minor.
Ivan Perisic was also given the all-clear after being substituted for Croatia during the international break due to a violent challenge by colleague Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. However, Dejan Kulusevski has returned to England with a hamstring injury.
Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Richarlison, Kane, Son, Romero, Dier, Lenglet, Perisic, Bentancur, Hojbjerg, and Sessegnon.
Arsenal predicted lineup
While Arsenal will be without Mohamed Elneny (hamstring), Emile Smith Rowe (groin), and Cedric Soares (knock), it is hoped that Kieran Tierney, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Thomas Partey can recover from their respective injuries in time for the match.
Zinchenko and Partey, in particular, have been instrumental to Arsenal's strong start to the season. Still, Mikel Arteta would not confirm if any or both will be available to face Spurs on Saturday.
Arteta hopes to become the third manager in Arsenal's history to win his team's first three home league games against Spurs, following in the footsteps of George Morrell and Terry Neill.
Arsenal: Ramsdale, Saka, Jesus, Martinelli, White, Saliba, Gabriel, Zinchenko; Odegaard, Xhaka, and Partey.
Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur prediction
With the teams so evenly matched, and at a time when both of them are in top form, it makes sense not to lean towards one side as the apparent winner.
Hence, this game seems to be a draw, in our opinion.
Final prediction - Arsenal 2-2 Tottenham Hotspurs.
What do the coaches say about the North London derby?
Conte believes that Arsenal made good signings over the summer that has worked in their favour so far. "Arsenal had a fantastic start and they lost only one game against United. They are showing to be a really good team," he said.
He also spoke about the quality of the team that has placed its faith in Arteta for many years. They are all well organised, and Arteta is a good coach.
The Gunners' manager, on the other hand, revealed how impressed he is with how far the Spurs have come with Conte by their side. The changes he introduced in the team are remarkable, and the team he built has a lot to offer.
"They have an apparent identity in how they play, and it's been imposing. We know that both teams expect a tough match tomorrow," conveyed Arteta in his pre-match press conference.
