With a first-half goal, Nicolo Zaniolo sealed the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy for A.S. Roma. He was the sole goal scorer of the match, with one goal in the 32nd minute. Captain of Feyenoord Rotterdam, Justin Bijlow, said that their first appearance in a European final in 20 years failed to bring the club back on the map and ended with disappointment.

Feyenoord Rotterdam won the UEFA Cup in 2002. However, they failed to clinch the inaugural Europa Conference League trophy as Nicolo Zaniolo was able to slip through the defence of the Dutch Club to score the match-winning goal. A.S. Roma defender Gianluca Mancini sent a cross towards the Feyenoord penalty area, which was missed by Gernot Trauner, allowing Nicolo Zaniolo to score with a close-range shot.

Feyenoord played aggressively and applied plenty of pressure on the AS Roma defence in the second half but failed to score the equalizer. The goalkeeper of Feyenoord, Justin Bijlow said, "This is terrible. We wanted to take the cup with us, thank the supporters, and put Feyenoord back on the map. Unfortunately, it did not work out like that.”

Jose Mourinho celebrates his fifth European Trophy with tears of happiness

The victory made Jose Mourinho the second manager in history to win five major European titles to emulate the record of Giovanni Trapattoni after A.S. Roma's victory added the inaugural Europa Conference League trophy to his collection.

After the victory, a tearful Jose Mourinho said, "This did not work tonight. This was history. We had to write history. We wrote it; it remains in the history of Roma, but also mine. I was told only I, Sir Alex, and Giovanni Trapattoni won trophies in three different decades. It makes me feel a little old, but it is nice for my career!”
