Reds defeat Arsenal to go within one point of Manchester City
Second-half goals from Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino were enough for Liverpool to beat Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening.
The result gave the Reds their ninth successive league win and saw them move to within one point of Manchester City at the top of the table.
Arsenal remain in fourth, one point ahead of Manchester United but having two games in hand.
The result throws down the gauntlet to City, who in mid-January had an 11-point advantage at the top of the league.
They are still in the driving seat, but with Liverpool travelling to the Etihad for a top-of-the-table clash on April 10, they now know that winning all of their remaining games will be enough to win the league.
Of course, the same could be said for the Mancunians.
Furthermore, having won the Carabao Cup and still being in both the FA Cup and Champions League, the Reds could still secure the quadruple this season.
Speaking after the match, Klopp said he is still taking things one game at a time though, stating "Coming here and winning against Arsenal is already special, but winning the game like it was - more special.
"We started really well then it became an open game. We wanted to improve in the second half.
"I'm very excited about the team and the situation we are in but that does not change everything. We just need to keep going. We really want to enjoy the situation we are in by winning football matches."
Liverpool next face Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday.
Their next game in the Premier League is against Watford on April 2 and should they win it, they could leapfrog City, who face Burnley later that day.
