Premier League: Manchester City defeated newly promoted Bournemouth 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium
Following their opening-day victory at West Ham last weekend, the Premier League champions made it two wins in a row
In the first half, Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, and Phil Foden scored, while Jefferson Lerma scored his own goal at the finish.
After defeating West Ham United in their first league game last week, the Premier League champions resumed their winning streak.
It was a difficult afternoon for Bournemouth, who could not recreate their performance against Aston Villa last week.
"As a team, we did an excellent performance," Manchester City's Guardiola stated. "They defend so so deep and so narrow.
Haaland remains goal-less as Kevin de Bruyne shines for Manchester City
After 18 minutes, Erling Haaland, who was making his home debut, set up Gundogan by brushing past two defenders.
On Saturday, however, Haaland failed to score against a low-lying Bournemouth team.
In the aftermath of his side's victory, Pep Guardiola said: "The most difficult job in the world is when you are a striker against a (defence) with three central midfielders, three centre-backs and you are in the middle."
"We will find many of these situations but it's a question of time. With the quality of player we have behind him, we will find him," Guardiola said on Haaland.
In the 18th minute of the game, Ilkay Gundogan scored after receiving a beautiful ball inside the penalty area from Haaland and unleashing a solid effort into the bottom corner of the net.
Scott Parker's team had scarcely adjusted before De Bruyne doubled their advantage after 31 minutes with a beautiful finish with the outside of his right foot into the bottom corner.
The Belgian international dribbled past several defenders before unleashing an unstoppable shot from the edge of the box.
The Belgian international then switched roles and set up Foden. Just before halftime, Phil Foden blasted a low shot into the heart of the goal to put the Blues up 3-0.
Pep Guardiola was allowed to make a change at halftime, replacing Foden with Jack Grealish, and Bournemouth went into the second half determined not to lose by six or seven goals.
On a scorching day in the North West of England, Manchester City recycled possession well and earned plenty of rest as Bournemouth chose not to press any higher than inside their half.
The second half was quieter, but City added a fourth with 10 minutes left when Lerma turned Joao Cancelo's cross into his net.
Jefferson Lerma scored an own goal after attempting to head a cross into the penalty area but inadvertently running the ball just inside the left post of his own goal, giving his goalie little opportunity to save.
Manchester City will next play Newcastle at St. James' Park before travelling to Barcelona for a friendly against the Blaugrana.
