Vitality's ZywOo clinches 2023 CS2 award for Player of the Year
Securing his third Counter-Strike Player of the Year title, Mathieu 'ZywOo' Herbaut marked the pinnacle of Team Vitality's extraordinary season.
A testament to the team's historic accomplishments, ZywOo's accolade reaffirmed his prowess as the best in the game. The season began modestly with a 5th-6th place at IEM Katowice 2023 and 5th-8th at ESL Pro League S17.
However, the narrative transformed by late April, with Vitality claiming the top spot globally, triumphing at IEM Rio and the Paris Major.
ZywOo's exceptional performances, notably in the Grand Final of the BLAST.tv Paris Major, where his score of 42-28 / 1.54 outshone all others on the server, underscored his consistency. Even against formidable opponents like FaZe Clan and G2 Esports, ZywOo's brilliance remained undiminished.
Post-Major, Vitality rebounded, securing a 3rd-4th place at IEM Cologne and winning it all at Gamers8.
The season concluded on a triumphant note with victories at BLAST Premier Fall Final and BLAST Premier World Final, the latter featuring a commanding Grand Final against FaZe Clan, where ZywOo's stellar performance sealed the title with a score of 38-19/1.69 on Inferno and 13-7 on Nuke.
