Many concerns have been raised regarding the packed esports schedule for Valorant teams, and Riot Games are well aware of the issues, but solutions may only be implemented further down the road.
The exhaustive VCT 2023 schedule, characterised by minimal rest and a sprint to the finish line before September, raised significant concerns among players on teams that made deep runs in international events.
At Champions 2023, fatigue became a focal point for players on Fnatic and Evil Geniuses, who expressed their exhaustion following extensive playoff campaigns at Masters Tokyo and Champions, with little respite in between.
As the 2024 schedule was unveiled, apprehension lingered among several figures within the league regarding the potential escalation of player burnout.
This concern is particularly pronounced with a kickoff series, a regular season split, and two Masters events scheduled before the midpoint of the calendar year.
In July, former Team Liquid coach turned content creator, Connor 'Sliggy' Blomfield, predicted an increase in discussions about player burnout, suggesting that fans might hear about it "maybe 10 times the amount" compared to 2023.
