Seth "Scump" Abner announces Call of Duty retirement

    Seth "Stump" Abner has officially retired from competing in Call of Duty.

    The American first joined the esports scene with Team Obey in 2011, but enjoyed most of his success with the various forms of OpTic Gaming. Over 14 years in competition, Stump played in 95 events, winning 31 of them, including one CoD World Championship, two X Games' and ten Major titles.

    On Tuesday, Stump posted an emotional six-minute video on Twitter, captioned THANKS FOR EVERYTHING, revealing his retirement.

    Following the announcement, several bigshots of the CoD community took to social media to honour Scump.

    "The greatest Call of Duty player of all time," tweeted Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag.

    "Scump has had more impact on the success & growth of competitive Call of Duty than any other player to date & is one of the reasons why so many players & staff get to work in this industry that we all love so much. Love you, brother."

    Fellow CoD veteran James "Clayster" Eubanks also chimed in.

    "Actually makes me really, really emotional. One of the best to ever do it, so many great battles, so many victories, so many defeats. Been through it all for 11+ years at this point, sad to see you go but excited to see what the future holds. @scump love yah brotha."

    Brandon "Dashy" Otell, who is set to replace Stump at OpTic, thanked him for his menntorship.

    "Today is hitting a little different… One of my favourite people/teammates I've ever had the pleasure to be around. I appreciate everything you've done for me over all these years, I just hope to make you proud from the outside my brother @scump."
