One of the most prominent esports tournament platforms in the world, is Repeat.gg allows people to participate in various online games for cash rewards.

Leaderboard competitions are held by Repeat.gg and are intended to broaden the appeal of esports. Using it, gamers can track their performance in games and compete without being online at the same time.

2.3 million players participate in more than 100,000 events on Repeat.gg, which right now offers well-known multiplayer games like Fortnite, League of Legends, Dota 2, PUBG, and Call of Duty: Warzone.

According to Steven Roberts, head of global competitive gaming at Sony Interactive Entertainment, this acquisition of Repeat.gg will assist people in understanding more about what competitive gaming may be about.

He said: "At PlayStation, our vision for esports has always been about breaking down barriers for gamers to compete at all levels. Together with the talented Repeat.gg team, we're excited to explore more ways for players to engage in competitive gaming and expand the breadth of our esports offerings."

"This is just the start of our journey, and we look forward to sharing more updates with our community in the future."

Repeat.gg will continue functioning on other platforms

In addition to PlayStation, Repeat.gg will continue to offer games on mobile devices, PCs and other consoles.

Repeat.gg CEO Aaron Fletcher also made a statement after the announcement: "Repeat.gg was designed to enable new tournament formats that are easy to enter and scalable to millions of players. We're thrilled to join the PlayStation team and work together to enhance the variety of tournament experiences gamers can enjoy, regardless of their skill level."

Repeat.gg hosts both free and paid competitions on its website. Users only need to link their game accounts to their Repeat profiles for the platform to track their performance automatically.

Players can purchase many gift cards, including PSN, Steam, Nintendo, Xbox Live, and Amazon, with the coins they earn based on how well they perform in tournaments.

Although it is unknown whether or how this network would work with PlayStation platforms, we can see how it might complement the recently unveiled PlayStation Stars loyalty program.

PlayStation has been heavily promoting esports and its ongoing investment in live multiplayer games.

In March last year, Sony Interactive Entertainment became a co-owner of the famed fighting video game tournament Evo.

Additionally, it supports PlayStation Tournaments, which have taken place in more than 70 countries and included 30 games. Last year, gamers won more than $5 million in prizes from 8,000 events, with 50,000 of them being cash payouts.

Seven million people have already signed up, and it intends to hold over 8,000 tournaments this year.

Additionally, it follows the declaration that Bungie, the studio behind Destiny, has been successfully acquired by PlayStation.
