MinD_ContRoL slams Dota 2's 'bad' drafting system
Former Nigma Galaxy offlaner Ivan 'MinD_ContRoL' Ivanov has expressed his discontent with the revamped drafting system in ranked Dota 2 games.
He has called for a reconsideration or a return to the previous system where teams were predetermined.
"The drafting system in MMR is pretty bad, can you fix it or bring the old one back or create a new one? Half of the games are pointless," said MinD_ContRoL.
The dissatisfaction stems from the alterations introduced with the release of patch 7.33, particularly affecting the drafting system in the Immortal bracket.
In the old system for the Immortal bracket, akin to the current approach in Herald to Divine ranked games, teams were pre-established by Valve's servers.
These teams were meticulously crafted to ensure a balance between Radiant and Dire sides, factoring in the players' Matchmaking Rating (MMR). However, the new system adopts a captain-based approach.
The two players boasting the highest MMR in each team ascend to the role of captains for the Radiant and Dire sides, respectively. These captains then select four players from the remaining eight to form their team.
The absence of a role queue requirement in the Immortal bracket has led to some players intentionally identifying as versatile, leading to suboptimal gameplay experiences.
