Fnatic secure VCT Masters Tokyo crown
Fnatic secured the Valorant Champions Tour Masters Tokyo title, claiming back-to-back international crowns with an overwhelming 3-0 victory over Evil Geniuses.
This achievement solidifies Fnatic's position as the undisputed best professional Valorant team of 2023.
The best-of-five series kicked off on the map Lotus, where Fnatic had previously outperformed EG.
Although they didn't replicate their earlier 10-2 lead, Fnatic maintained a level of superiority and finished the first half tied at 6-6.
In the second half, Fnatic conceded only two rounds, overpowering their American opponents with a resounding 13-8 win.
The Split map started with a close contest, but Fnatic's defense, led by Emir 'Alfajer' Beder's exceptional play as Cypher, allowed them to establish a four-round lead.
Alfajer's strategic positioning and use of abilities proved crucial in securing the advantage for Fnatic.
Both teams strategically used timeouts to break each other's momentum, resulting in an 11-11 tie.
However, Nikita 'Derke' Sirmitev's outstanding performance in round 23, securing four kills, propelled Fnatic to a match point. They clinched the round, taking a 2-0 lead in the series and setting the stage for a potential sweep.
In the final map, Bind, Fnatic faced a formidable challenge from EG's unexpected Reyna and Chamber combination.
EG took control early on, leading 8-4 at halftime and extending their advantage after winning the second pistol round.
With EG up 12-7, victory seemed within reach for them, but Fnatic mounted a remarkable comeback, forcing overtime and ultimately securing their second title of 2023.
