Esports: India's esports ecosystem to grow in 2023
2022 has been busy for the Indian esports market as the country has taken long strides towards its development. It started with the BGMI getting banned, followed by Global Esports receiving a franchising spot within the Valorant League.
In addition, some games were introduced only to be banned sometime later.
The constant change that characterised the market led to a dynamic esports ecosystem that now caters to various people.
There are more gamers now, and tournaments have also increased.
Gamers took an interest in Mobile gaming and PC gaming games - BGMI and Valorant.
As Indian players enjoyed the servers, the popularity of Valorant grew over time.
Other games like Pokemon Unite and PUBG New State were also introduced.
Now, let's look at the top Indian esports organizations in 2023!
Enigma Gaming
Enigma is mostly an underdog in the games they participate. The company rose from the shadows and outplayed other companies in the market.
They crossed the APAC qualifiers for Valorant and produced one of India's best teams in Pokémon Unite. Although their credibility wasn't noticed initially, they won The Esports Club Arena LAN Tournament in August.
They are looking at a busy 2023 as they need to rebuild their brand now that the Valorant roster has been discontinued.
Godlike Esports
GodLike Esports performed poorly in the beginning but has grown steadily ever since. They have teams in different games: Call Of Duty Mobile, Free Fire and BGMI.
The BGMI team won the CODM India Championship and came second in the BGMI Master Series. They also became the first team to send a team to FIFA 23.
They are reportedly preparing to dive into PUBG New State and Valorant next year.
Revenant Esports
Revenant Esports, also called the Ajax of Indian Esports, thrives on the principle that younger players should be allowed to gain experience and exposure to bit-ticket titles worldwide.
They have the best Pokemon Unite teams in India that competed at the Pokemon United World Championship. Their strong hold over the game inspired other organisations to try Pokemon Unite.
They will now appear at the Pokemon Unite India Open, scheduled to take place on December 24 after qualifying for the event.
S8ul Esports
S8ul received the "Content Group Of The Year" at the Esports Awards, a milestone achievement for India. Besides content, S8ul has teams in mobile games like PUBG New State, Pokémon Unite and BGMI.
They're currently ruling the mobile esports domain in India. In December, they won the New State Mobile Open organised by The Esports Club and the AAA Esports Series Pokemon Unite 2022.
The latter is the first official Lan Pokemon Unite in India. The following year looks promising for S8ul as they might launch their Valorant team and cover higher ground in PUBG New State.
Global Esports
Global Esports concluded the year at the top despite BGMI's unfortunate ban. They won the first BGMI Masters Series and bore the news of its imminent discontinuation the following week.
Global Esports became a part of the first teams within Valorant, and before the end of the year, they announced their entire Valorant roster for the upcoming Pre-Season Valorant Event in Brazil.
They will also field a new team in PUBG New State for the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series: New State.
