Esports: FIFA 23 to feature popular Apple TV + show
By entering into the virtual world, Ted Lasso becomes more real. EA Sports revealed on Wednesday that the mustachioed soccer manager made-up AFC Richmond team from the hit Apple TV+ comedy series "Ted Lasso" would be playable characters in FIFA 23.
In career mode, "the Greyhounds" can be switched, kicked off, and played online from the Rest of the World category, where they initially appear. Jason Sudeikis' Ted Lasso (in the game's career mode) will be playable.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, a producer and distributor of the Apple TV+ smash Ted Lasso, collaborated with EA to bring the show's performers to the game. Different game modes will allow you to take control of Roy Kent and company. These include Career, Kickoff, Online Friendlies, and Online Seasons.
"I am truly fortunate and deeply grateful, to have had many special moments in my career thus far, and I consider this experience among the best of them," Sudeikis, who plays the manager, was grateful.
"As long-time fans of EA SPORTS FIFA, having Ted Lasso and the whole AFC Richmond squad incorporated into the newest version of the game is truly a dream come true for myself and the rest of the fellas."
Lasso, Coach Beard, and players Jamie Tartt, Dani Rojas, Sam Obisanya, Roy Kent, and Isaac McAdoo will all make the club's home venue, Nelson Road, appearances in the upcoming FIFA 23 video game.
In Career Mode, players will now have the option to select Lasso as their playable manager. You can also take charge of AFC Richmond by transferring them to the Premier League or another league playable in Career Mode.
Phil Dunster, Ted Lasso star, opens up on the FIFA feature.
Phil Dunster, who plays the star striker Jamie Tartt, is perhaps the most thrilled of any of the show's cast members about the new development.
The music from FIFA 99 has stayed with Dunster for over two decades, and he remembers his first time playing the game like it was yesterday.
Since the Greyhounds' stadium will also be a part of the game, Dunster has claimed that he would most likely alter his strategy to help bring glory to the Nelson Road now that AFC Richmond has joined the fray. There will also be appearances by Roy Kent, Sam Obisanya, and Dani Rojas.
For Dunster, the fact that the character he portrays on the show will be in the game is just the latest fantastic experience brought on by his involvement with the sitcom.
Jamie Tartt, the protagonist he created, is not a useless creation. On the show, he was a star player for Lasso's team and good enough to play for Manchester City.
In the end, Dunster's reasoning agreed with the game's designers. Later, an EA Sports FIFA representative verified that Tartt had received an overall rating of 84, putting him one point behind Jamie Vardy of Leicester City and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Chelsea.
Since 1993, only EA Sports has produced the legally licensed FIFA games, but after nearly 30 years, the company's partnership with the global football authority is ending.
After this instalment, EA's football titles will be known as EA Sports FC, while FIFA will look to license its name to other developers to produce rival titles.
FIFA 23 will be available for the PS5, Xbox One X|S, PC, Stadia, PS4, and Xbox One from September 30, 2022.
