Dust II dropped as Mirage enters CS2 beta rotation
Dust II has finally been switched out of the CS2 beta, with Mirage replacing it.
Interestingly, this update coincides with Mirage's 10th anniversary since its introduction to the game back in 2013.
Mirage, designed by Michael 'BubkeZ' Hull in collaboration with Valve, has been a beloved map in the FPS title for a decade.
Despite receiving visual updates over the years, Mirage has remained largely unchanged compared to its counterparts, Inferno and Dust II.
With Dust II undergoing rework in 2017, Mirage became the go-to map for many players, both in casual play and the professional scene.
It has been played over 23,000 times in professional matches, surpassing the popularity of other maps like Inferno, according to HLTV.
The CS2 beta was released on March 22, introducing significant changes to the beloved game.
During the closed test period, lucky players could participate in unranked competitive or deathmatch modes, but were restricted to playing only on Dust II. This limitation led to player frustration and a decline in the closed test's player base.
While the map pool hasn't expanded with this update, those with access to CS2 will be eager to experience one of Counter-Strike's oldest and most revered maps in the new version.
