CS2: Vitality sign former Fnatic star mezii
Former Fnatic CS player William 'mezii' Merriman has joined French esports organisation Vitality, stepping into the shoes of Emil 'Magisk' Reif.
Team Vitality has undergone a series of changes in recent months, initiating with the departure of their Head Coach, Danny 'zonic' Sorensen, who left to form a super team with Falcon Esports. Following Zonic's departure, Magisk bid farewell to the club earlier this month.
With the off-season tumult settling, the French organisation has commenced the process of fortifying its lineup for the upcoming season. The first step in this reconstruction is the acquisition of Fnatic's star player, William 'mezii' Merriman.
While the official statement merely confirms what CS2 enthusiasts have speculated, the public revelation of lineups for the BLAST Premier Fall Final earlier this month provided a clear indication of mezii's imminent move to Vitality.
Mezii has been an integral part of the Fnatic team since August 2021, playing a crucial role in the team's playoff run during the IEM Rio Major. Despite some commendable performances, Fnatic has struggled to achieve consistent success.
Throughout the past year, the team consistently placed outside the top eight in nearly every international competition they participated in. One of their notable finishes this year was securing a top-eight position at the BLAST Premier: Spring European Showdown 2023 in March.
